Havana meets Kingston EPK
History was recently made by Australian producer and keyboardist Jake Savona. Savona brought together a small team of dedicated Australian musicians and filmmakers to travel to the Caribbean this year. Their mission was complete when they brought Jamaican and Cuban musicians together in the recording studio in Havana, Cuba for the first time ever.
The Havana meets Kingston EPK fired up a melting pot of traditional and contemporary Cuban and Jamaican music. With the intentions of exploring new styles and sounds. Savona brought some of the best musicians from both islands together for the first time in Havana. This is truly an international musical experience. The Havana meets Kingston EPK will be the first album recorded simultaneously in Spanish, English and Jamaican Patois. With only 8 days in Cuba, Savona managed to make this EPK a dream come thru. The project was initially launched through kickstarter. The Havana meets Kingston project launched when some of reggae music’s most notable producers and artists jumped on the project. Producers Sly and Robbie as well as Leroy Sibbles of the Heptones/ Studio One Sounds; Afro-Cuban Allstars and Buena Vista Social Club; percussionist Changuito, Bongo Herman; reggae artists, Randy Valentine and Turbulence and much more graced this first EP cut.
Look out for more volumes to this project.
